Album of the week #35-2024 – “Multiple Directions” by BySenses

A few weeks ago, I heard this album on Rainer’s radio show ‘Halbzeit’ and was immediately hooked. Four beautiful musical jewels that are as full of energy as I haven’t heard in a long time. Even the opener ‘Temples’, a rather quiet song, builds up a nice tension and is anything but boring, but builds up layer by layer without sounding overloaded. The result is a nearly 20-minute song that also leaves room for dreaming in places.

‘Vous êtes là?’ (Vous êtes là?) is a very hypnotic number with a wafting bass line running through it like a red thread. From the second half, Frakke Zero One on drums provides even more oomph, which fits perfectly.

‘With Love…. To Klaus’ is a tribute to? That’s right, Klaus Schulze, who would have certainly liked this song. Stylistically, motifs are used here that we would have expected from Klaus. Didier Dewachter bka BySenses has brought drummer legend Tommy Betzler into the studio to support him on the drums and probably on other percussion instruments as well. In my humble opinion, a very good choice.

Finally, something hypnotic: ‘MonoCHROOM Live @Hannekesnest’ (Hannekesnest is a restaurant/bistro in the heart of Antwerp where you can celebrate weddings or give small concerts, for example).

There are some very dominant guitar riffs from Peter Moorken’s Onsturichei.

In conclusion, I can only highly recommend this album and even after listening to it several times, it never gets boring.
